Yes, I really was born and raised in Las Vegas! I grew up in an older section of Vegas during my childhood (which was not old at the time) then moved to the west side of town in the early 90's. I grew up cooking with my mother recipes passed down from her Jewish parents as well as recipes she created along the way. We have so many fun stories of food fights, eggs on the ceiling, and pretending shark was "chicken" so I would try something new. I was a picky eater when I was young, which of course has been passed down to my son. However, my son loves to cook with me (even though he won't eat it). It creates memories and experiences for myself and my son and gets him comfortable in the kitchen. Now I love all types of food and willing to try anything. Hopefully someday it will be the same for my son!
Health and fitness has been a part of my life since I was a child. I've been around family and friends who were obsessed with their appearance and always focused on body image. These experiences have been challenges I've had to overcome and was hard to accept myself and my body. However, over time I've learned that living a healthy lifestyle is all about balance. Fad diets don't work and exercising until exhaustion runs down your body. What really works is making the best decisions with food, fitness, and yes even wine that works best for your lifestyle. In the last few years, I've had some health issues that have really focused my attention on diet. I've had to make adjustments to omit/limit foods that my body has become sensitive to, and focus more on the foods and clean eating that help my body. I used my cooking style to tailor recipes for myself and my family that we can all enjoy. It's not perfect everyday and it's ok to have bad days. My goal is not to focus on just the right now, but focus on a future of healthy living. I hope to pass along my experiences, best practices, and recipes that guide you on your best path to a healthy, balanced lifestyle with:
